Portfolio

My Firefighter animation. This is one of my favorite projects we have done in this semester because this project combined all of the skills we have learned in photoshop. This was not a hard project, but it was very time consuming. This project was very fun to do and it was fun being creative.

This is my castle animation. This is another one of my favorites because it was the very first animation we have done in Maya. We learned how to use the extrude tool, how to make shapes, how to rotate the camera, and how to add color.
This was a very fun project but it was a little bit difficult due to the fact that this was our first project in Maya.

This is my second castle animation. This is one of my favorites because we learned how to add our own textures. Notice that it is much smaller than the first castle because the first one was deleted and I don't know how. This one was fun but difficult because I had to start all over.

This is my hammer animation. I liked this one because we got introduced to new tools and new extrude abilities. We even got to make a nail for it. We were also taught how to use three point lighting with spot lights. This was very fun to do.

This is our poly thing project. This is one of my favorites because we were first introduced to three point lighting. Three point lighting is a way to add a shiny effect to your animation. I really enjoyed this one.

This is my pen project. This was our final for this semester. I really liked this one because we combined all of the things we learned into making this pen. This one was pretty difficult because we had to model off our own pens and add every detail. But don't get me wrong, this was a load of fun.

CAD 1&2 feature story

This feature story is about CAD 1&2 in Engineering Academy. The class is mainly about 3D animation and design. The class is a little bit difficult but nonetheless fun. This class is a little bit similar to Animation class in EComm.

Story animation

In animation I did a story animation. A lot of stuff was done to make it and it was a little difficult. But it was also really fun. I made a lot of things in photoshop for this project.

These are my character models. These didn't take too long to do. Two of the firefighter models are holding a hose. The one with its arm out was puppet pinned in my animation. The one on the top left is a walk animation character.

These are my firetruck models. These didn't take too long either. The one on the top is for the moving background. The one right below it is cut off because only half of the front is shown in the animation.

This is my moving background. This one didn't take too long at all because there are only two moving layers.

These are the buildings used in my animation. One is on fire, clearly. The other one is put out. Both of these took very little time to make.

And here is the animation. This, of course, was the longest and hardest to make. But it was a learning experience. Please enjoy.

Castle

My first 3D animation for e-9. I did this in Maya. At first this was just a small castle, with four walls and towers. But a little expansion makes it look better. The shapes i used were cubes, cylinders, and a cone. This project did not take too long but it was a little difficult. The three tools i used were rotate, pan, and zoom. This program is a lot better an easier to use than Sketch Up.

Technical post

In video, I learned what J and L clipping is, which is where the audio comes early or late in the clip. I learned to use clip-on mics which are best to use when interviewing someone. Make sure the mic is on. B- roll is background noise in a video. And learning how to manage all your clips is important.

The 5 H's: Who, What, When, Where, and Why. Be sure you and your audience knows what is going on. The 5 H's work great for this. Knowing who, what, when, where, and why helps keep your video from being confusing.

Interview

This is what NOT to do in an interview. I did it at least, but it wasn't perfect.

Video

Hi, its Aidan. I haven't done a blog in a while so lets get started. My video is about smoking on school grounds. Me and my partner used a prop and used the camera's white balance. We didn't think about using the 6 shots, though.

Team Project

My team's product is the Frosty Flask. The Frosty Flask is a portable ice cube tray in a bottle. Communication was what we did best. Project management however, we didn't do so well with. Next time we will organize our project better. We worked on a video, animation, website, ad, and coupon.

Dog House

This was fun to do. Notice the red dog in the dog house. This was a tad bit difficult to do, but it was fun and hilarious. I learned that you can change the color of the people and the dog.

Name animation

I think e9 is really fun so far. The projects might take a while to do but when they are masterpieces when finished. I think I'm going to do animation and graphic design next year. I haven't done web design yet, but I probably not do it next year.

My 10 words

This is a gif animation that I made in photoshop. Watch it right now if you want. Instead of using frame-by-frame animation, I used the video timeline. It was different because instead of arranging the frames, you would have to move all the objects around. The challenging part would have to be getting every animation to fit within the timeline.

What I learned

In animation, I learned about the principle of squash and stretch. Squash and stretch makes a object look like its bouncing or falling. In photoshop, you can create animations and create a short or long video. The process is a bit difficult. The layers have to be in order to make the animation work.  My best work would have to be my bouncing face.
This animation took the longest to make.

My bouncing face

This is the second squash and stretch,  with a face.

My bouncing ball

I learned about squash and stretch and how to animate in photoshop. This was fun to do, but it was also a little difficult.
