Final Reflection

This year has been a test of animation skills as well as a learning experience. My most shining moment this year was making a robot animation for Emagine. I focused more on the movement aspect of the animation and just winged a model design. Well, I based it off the first armor design I made, the rest of it was unplanned. Rigging the model was, as always, the tricky part. It was the first project I put in Emagine. The project got me second place and it felt amazing.

Other projects i worked on was a kid show and a rotoscope project. Both of those went very well, but the kid show project took the longest to do. I was in charge of the animation part of the project, which means I made the model and did the animation itself. My partners made the background and put it together in After Effects.

Another animation final review

3D model animation. My favorite way of animating. This is an armor animation I made and am most proud of. This took a long time to make, as rigging the moving parts was very time consuming. Everything else took much less to do.

3D Fish animation. This was my first animation using a skeleton. Making the fish model took some time.

Animation Final Review

Technology
The most important skill you will need in animation is knowing how to use a computer. But it's not just that. Knowing your way around the animation and editing software is also key to your success. There are a lot of tools and functions to remember, and each program is different. Learning to use this skill isn't hard if you pay attention. If you don't, this class will be rough.

Collaboration
Working with a group of people can make life easier. Well, maybe not life, but definitely makes animation easier. Each person can focus on a different part of the project, like lighting, design, movement, texture, etc. If you don't remember how to do something, you can ask one of your group members for help. This wasn't a hard skill. I found it easy to work with others.

Communication
You can't say eCommunication without communication. Being able to talk with other people is pretty important in order to know what is going on and getting help if needed. Now communication doesn't necessarily mean just talking to people. It means asking for help, telling your group wether you will be there or not, or coordinating with your group.

Project Management
Being able to plan a schedule is important. You have to know what you can get done on what days. You have to be able to compensate for any problems that may occur, wether that being the weather, someone sick, malfunctioning technology, etc.

Leadership
Being able to take command is important. Without a leader, your entire team will fall apart.

Video Final Reflection

Yo, its Aidan. This is my final reflection for video class. This is about my entire year in video. When I first came to this came to this class, I didn't know what to expect. I kinda thought it was just going to be us making videos and learning about the different shots and video equipment. Well, I hit the nail on the head. That is what this class is. But what I didn't expect is what I would take away from this class.

The 5 guarantees of video: Technology, Collaboration, Communication, Project management, and Leadership. All of these are important to be successful, not just in video class, but in other strands of eComm. I learned valuable things from the 5 guarantees.

I learned how to work the technology. That involves the cameras, tripods, mics, and editing software. This skill is most important in this class. I have greatly improved with editing and using the equipment properly. Without knowing your way around the equipment, how will you be successful?

I learned how to work with a team. Unless you wanna be a freelance video maker, you need to know how to work alongside other people. I almost never worked with the same people, so it was a little difficult getting to understand the work styles and mindsets of other people. Some people weren't very willing to work, and some people were too willing to work. But in the end, we managed to make something happen.

I learned how to communicate with my group and with other people. Communication is a very important skill. Talking about how something is going to go, how something works, etc. is most important when working with others. I was able to talk with everyone I worked with and had no problem doing so.

I learned how to manage projects. Time is an important factor. Sometimes things wont work the way you want, that being weather, technical problems, etc. Being able to properly coordinate a schedule is important. For me, Im not a very good time manager. Im just concerned with getting things done.

I learned how to be a leader. Being able to take control of a group is important if no one else can. I had slight difficulty with this, but it was easy to get everyone going.

Sophomore video class in eComm was a learning experience for me. These skills will not only benefit me in eComm, but anywhere else as well. Although I wont be going into video next year, I will never forget what I have learned in this class.
